For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. – 1 Timothy 6:10
Why did I start out with 1 Timothy 6:10? Well, this will be one heck of a ride; you see, this article is based on a new documentary that Candace Owens is about to release. Oh yeah, I know; Candace is a polarizing figure. Then you add the subject of her documentary, and this article becomes a powder keg.
Now you are thinking that from the opening that this article has something to do with money or the mismanagement of it, and you are correct, The Black Lives Matter Organization (BLM) is the target of Candace’s documentary. Yes, now we have two subjects of discussion that will trigger emotions from all sides.
The documentary’s title is: “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold.” The trailer that they dropped caught my attention rather quickly. The trailer shows BLM’s 990 filing, which allegedly states that the BLM organization received $79,644,832.00. To recap, The BLM organization is a not-for-profit.
The documentary starts with a viral clip of Candace going over the criminal history of George Floyd. She recounts the backlash she received over it and how that was one of the moments that pushed her to make the documentary. She visits Floyd’s old house, talks to his roommates, and visits the memorial dedicated to George Floyd, which has become “holy” ground.
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? – Mark 8:36
Ms. Owens then begins going down the money trail, and her mission was to call out what she perceived to be the hypocrisy of The BLM organization. If you haven’t watched the documentary, let me say she accomplished her goal. From what Candace presented, most of the money went to making critical members of the BLM Organization millionaires. BLM donated to various LGBTQIA+ not-for-profit organizations, which seemed to be shell companies. In the documentary, Candace tried calling multiple organizations, but all the numbers were out of service except for one.
The one Organization that did answer Candace’s call was an organization dedicated to educating protestors. They funded protestors, taught them how to protest, and set money aside to bail them out. I don’t know about you, but am I ever glad I did not fold to the pressure of giving to the BLM Organization.
I must admit that the documentary was eye-opening but not a death blow to the BLM Organization; you see, the only way to watch it is by going behind the Daily Wire+’s paywall. That means that, unfortunately, it will mostly go unwatched by the millions of people that donated their hard-earned money. My most extensive critique of the Daily Wire is that they don’t put their movies or documentaries for sale or rent on any other platform. I don’t know if that is because different platforms will not host the content or if it is a Daily Wire decision.
All said and done, it was a very informative documentary, and I am sure it will receive tons of backlash. I doubt anyone will come with as many receipts as Candace, but it will be entertaining.
Thank you for shining light on this topic and being unapologetic with your thoughts. That is why it’s important to do your on research instead of agreeing with the majority. Your topic has encouraged me to watch the documentary. I hope you continue to share your thoughts.
Thank you for reading!
