Why Does The Media Fail to Cover “A Good Guy With a Gun?”

OP: ED

The Government and the media push an extensive narrative to abolish gun rights in America. They capitalize on the empathy that most decent humans share to play on raw emotions and push an agenda that does not benefit the average American. As the midterm elections start heating up, one of the points constantly brought up is the 2nd Amendment. To quote an American President, “why do you need an assault weapon designed to defend America and to defend people” – Joe Biden.

You see, the Government will always have armed security, the elite will also have armed security and access to guns, and you know who else will have access to firearms? Criminals. That leaves the average law-abiding citizen disarmed and unable to defend themselves against criminals and oppressive laws. Which brings me to the title of this blog, why won’t the media cover instances of law-abiding citizens using legally purchased weapons, defending those that cannot protect themselves?

If there are no recorded instances of defensive use of legally owned firearms, you can easily argue that the only use for guns is criminal activity. But what if I told you that if you dig deep enough, you can find people who were able to end the violence because they prepared? You see, part of legal and responsible ownership of a firearm is training. I advocate for owners to train, practice trigger discipline, and exercise situational awareness to make the best choice. I also believe that as a responsible gun owner, know the laws of your city and state regarding firearms.

I know what you must think, “alright, where are these examples.” There are a few on the NRA page; a content creator named Colion Noir has made a few videos. I’ll start your journey, but you have to do your research.

Ethel Jones, a 69-year-old widow and grandmother, defended her home with a .38 caliber handgun when three intruders were breaking into her home.

In Charleston, WV, a woman with a concealed carry permit stopped an armed suspect from wounding or possibly killing people at a gathering she was attending.

Here is a list; please research them at your leisure, and next time someone says the good guy with a gun is a myth, you can refer them here.
